Golf Swing Mechanics - Every Golfer should have proper Golf Swing Mechanics

We all want to have proper golf swing mechanics. We all want to make a perfect swing like Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Vijay Singh or Lorena Ochoa, Suzann Pettersen and Tseng Yani for lady golfer. Want to see that ball go sailing off the tee straight down the fairway a couple of hundred yards. Now of course we've all also seen someone consistently do that at a course on Sunday afternoon, so effortlessly, just like the club was slicing through butter. What do these people with the perfect golf swing and a perfect drive every time have that we don't have. Is it speed, strength, or a better driver? Chances are none of the above, what they have mastered is their golf swing mechanics.

In order to have proper golf swing mechanics, one must learn of the mechanics involved. There are two fundamentals concerning the correct golf swing. These two are the pre-swing fundamental and the swing fundamental. The pre-swing fundamental is about the set-up of your body. You must first know the correct posture of the body before you even try swinging. The set-up includes the body's alignment, the foot position, the ball position, your balance and the position of your arms and hands.Like with any other type of physical motion, a golf swing is easier to repeat if it requires less movement. The best golf swings are often the simplest ones. This means that if you want to really improve golf swing mechanics and help your game, you will have to eliminate any part of the swing that's not helping your ball striking. For instance, some players get entirely too much movement from their head during the golf swing. Other players might need to work on their hips to improve their golf swing. If you take the time to really study your swing, you will see that there are certain movements in your routine which are taking away from both your power and consistency.

Another way is by simplify your swing. Learn to make the "one plane swing" rather than the more normal "two plane swing". The two most famous golfers who use the "one plane swing" are Tiger Woods and Vijay Singh. The more normal "two plane swing" needs you to co-ordinate two different planes of movement - the flat rotation of your body and the upright swinging of your arms. By contrast, the "one plane swing" only needs you to match your arms and shoulder movements in one single plane of movement. Before you rush to learn this simpler swing, you should be aware that some golf trainers feel that the stances used by Tiger Woods and Vijay Singh look rather awkward. Some of them also feel that there may be more stress on your spine.

But one should not forget is practice makes perfect. If you want to have a perfect/proper golf swing mechanics you should have more practice. Many golfers just do not have enough practice. Playing golf is like other sport, requires practice. Unlike, say martial arts, where you only need to practice your kicks and punches on a flat surface, golf can be much more complicated. Golf is closer to warfare - you need to practice how to use 14 different golf clubs on a variety of different surfaces and terrain. How many of us actually manage to practice all 14 of our golf clubs? At best, most of us only train with two golf clubs - the driver and the putter. What about the 2 fairway woods? And the irons and wedges? How many strokes do you lose in the sand trap or bunker because you were not familiar enough with your wedges? Is your skill with your irons good enough to get you out of the roughs efficiently?

Lastly treating yourself and your body is as much a part of playing well as knowing the proper golf swing mechanics and following through on suggestions that you are given by other golfers. There is no point in pushing yourself to your breaking point just to try to better your golf swing and game. Paying attention to your body's subtle clues and messages will be the best type of training and guidance that you can ever be given. Listening to your body will alert you when you are over-reaching. Don’t rush and push yourself over the limit. Don’t forget to practice, practice and practice and I’m pretty sure you will achieve your goal to have proper golf swing mechanics.
